The IBA Arbitration Committee and Mediation Committee will hold a training programme titled “Mediation v Arbitration: Best Friends or Best Enemies?—A View from Asia” at the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong and HKIAC, Hong Kong SAR on 1-2 December 2016.
The programme aims to provide an opportunity for international practitioners to better understand the current mediation and arbitration practices within the Asia-Pacific region. The program will include the following topics: “Drafting/negotiating/enforcing ADR clauses and the role of counsel,including in-house: from old to new?”, “Mediator v arbitrator: Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde?”, “Articulating mediation and arbitration proceedings: mission impossibleor a piece of cake?” and “Enforcing a settlement reached through mediation or enforcing an award: a race for efficiency?”. Another aim of the programme is to obtain feedbacks from attendees. Any recommendations as to any preferable mediation and arbitration practices will undoubtedly help the Chinese Arbitration industry to better adapt to the international commercial trends.
Beijing Arbitration Commission/Beijing International Arbitration Center, as one of the primary international arbitration institutions in the Asia-Pacific region, has always maintained a mutually cooperative relationship with the IBA and would always appreciate the opportunity to support any relevant ADR practices in the region.
